No excuses, Dave.

Tom et al,
OK, OK. All the banter back and forth is just too engaging. "The check's
in the mail" (Terry & Patty please note ... it'll get there about
Tues). Party of two. David & Karen Todd (Karen's Class of '63, Cromwell,
CT, HS).
Memories. One of my first, when I tried to remember back that far [ :-) ], was
of Craig Thiersch playing the organ in the Assembly Hall before class in early
morning. That was real dedication on his part. Craig plowing through Morte de
Arthur (which I *still* haven't read, Craig). And getting me interested in
German and Russian. And Miss Ziegler's German classes. Fun, I thought. Then I
remembered the German Singers, and how much I enjoyed that club and how
terrible I was at singing (I'm REALLY sorry, fellow Singers. I'll show my face
in two weeks anyway. But I *promise* not to sing!). So, OK, some of the
memories are a little awkward and painful. I guess that's what 14-18 year olds
go through! Kinda like Tom's water-fountain experience. :-)
Tom, I thought we had Mr Ricca (?sp) for driver's ed. I thought we took that
together -- down at Manual during the summer, actually. It served me well, in
any case.
Mr. Flugel for chemistry. VanDeventer for Geometry. Mr. Bockowitz for freshman
algebra -- "if you don't learn algebra, you can always dig ditches for a
living". Loved algebra, but the alternative didn't seem all that bad
sometimes. :-) I actually managed to find and keep one of the high-school
English texts a few years ago... sitting on my bookshelf here, I think. Miss
Rice's class. I treasured the class and the literature.
And Mr. Mills. As someone else noted, a gentle man. Very thoughtful and
intelligent, I thought, and almost a little out of place as HS principal.
Well, some of it's coming back to me now. Thanks, guys. See you in a couple of
weeks.
Anyone live between San Diego and Aspen? We're driving so as to see some more
of the Southwest.
