I just gave my mother a call (district 150 teacher, retiree). She doesn't
believe that Max Mills remarried and doesn't believe that Max and his wife had
any kids. My bar experience may have been skewed. I can't begin to compete with
many of you for memory.

Dave,
I don't remember the assembly about trench mouth. But I remember Mr. Mills as a
good principal (not that I saw him that much), distinguished, respected by the
students. I called the school to see if they could help with this trivia
question. The secretary checked a plaque out in the hall and reported that he
died in 1966. She thought he died at the school, but wasn't sure. I have no
idea where I head the "rumor," but it must have been someone else or
a figment of someone's imagination.
