Hi classmates on the distribution list!!
I thought it may be fun since the reunion is fast approaching to share some
memories-good, not so good, funny, embarrassing, whatever-with one another
before we get together to celebrate 40 years of life after high school
graduation. And since we live in the IT (information technology) world- whether
we like it or not- there is no better way to do that than through emails. So
here are some of my memories, mostly funny, to hopefully start an interchange.
1. We all probably remember the Friday night ritual of the "drive through
Steak"- but I also recall after waiting in that long traffic line for 30
minutes or more that when we finally arrived at the Steak-n-Shake parking
entrance when all the passengers in the car would slouch down below window
level so that it appeared to all those parked and anxiously waiting to find out
who was in the next car that the driver was alone-ultimate embarrassment if you
had any kind of an ego!!! If I recall Roger Sutton was the usual victim of that
joke.
2. How many times did you allow Mr Bielima to yell "BOOOOOOOOOOO" at
you as he rushed towards you to retrieve the chalk from your hand after you
made a stupid mistake trying to solve an alegbra equation in front of the
class?? Too many times for me to remember, but I still remember alegbra (some)
HAHA
3. Are there any football players out there that remember "THIS AIN' T NO
KIDS LEAGUE'" pick up Sunday morning games on the front lawn of Columbia
School? (Lee Swardenski are you there?) The lawn at Great Central Insurance was
also popular spot as I recall.
4. How about the squeaky doors and floors at North Study Hall (or was it South
Study Hall) that always gave you away if you got there late and had to approach
the teacher/monitor at the front desk with EVERYONE watching!! Especially bad
for me as I always sat in the back as seating was done alphabetically and I
squeaked all way to to the back of the room.
Enough memories from me for now-though I have many more to relate later. This
is an attempt to get a little memory interchange going -so everyone out there
please feel to contribute and maybe we can make this reunion a lot of fun-
because a reunion is actually a re-living and you only do that in memories.
Hope to hear from all soon!
Dave
P.S. That includes you Marilyn, and Larraine, and Bruce and Mary, and Joe and
Bev, and Nort, and Stuber, and Sanderson, and McCord, and Eisele, and Norm and
Sandi, and ...oops - ran out of space.
