Dave & Todd:

I concur with all that you both have written. The evening was marvelous. I'll admit I was somewhat apprehensive about it: Would the event live up to the hype we all generated with the emails? Would people be friendly or competitive? Would we recognize each other? Of course, all of my concerns were needless, as everything and everyone were great. When my wife and I arrived at Mt. Hawley, we had the good fortune to meet the Rushfords in the parking lot, immediately recognized each other, started laughing, and it just got better and better from there.

Lee Swardenski caught me by the registration table to show me the math club photo from the Crest. What a riot!!! There we all were, about 60 kids, for the math club photo. I was there without my glasses because Lee was apparently wearing them. Several people used false names, and I think it's safe to say, most were not in the math club. We laughed about that several times over the evening.

It was great to see those who came a long distance to be there, from Germany, Florida, the east coast, Texas, etc. I think it speaks well for our class that so many felt it was worthwhile enough to make a significant trip. As a local Illinois resident, I appreciate it. So thanks to all the travelers.

We must thank those who where so instrumental in pulling all of this together. Laraine, the Wessels, Todd, Lee, Marilyn, Larry, et al worked extremely hard to organize this event. Their accomplishment deserves nothing less than a resounding "Brilliant" from the rest of us.

I agee with Dave Byrkit about the post-party downer. It is sad that it's over. But I think we should maintain the momentum and keep the emails moving around. Perhaps we won't do that with the same intensity, but I think it's important to stay in touch. In an email before the reunion, Frank Simpson commented that he thought our class was unique. After seeing everyone at the reunion, I totally agree. And I agree with Todd that we need to find our "missing" classmates and let them know about the web site, the email program, and all the rest.

Participating in the email exchange and the reunion have been the highlights of my summer. I hope to stay in touch with you. As you know, I'm in Plainfield, IL, up by Chicago. If you're coming to the Windy City or just passing through, please call. I'd love to hear from you.

Doing this again in three years rather than five sounds like a good idea to me. Thanks again, everyone, for a wonderful summer and a magnificent reunion.
