If you recall, as you went downtown on Main St., the Madison was on the left and the Palace was on the right, but one part of a block down. There used to be a sporting goods store near the Madison as well. They were wonderful, old style theaters, with the full balconies as you mentioned. I recall sitting in the balcony most of the time.

I've tried to recall other movies from the time, but I'm having trouble remembering. I do seem to recall some 3D movies, possibly a western with John Wayne, at the Palace? Was it Hondo??? Also, when did Lawrence of Arabia come out? I think that was during this time also. It was another Cinemascope production. I think the movies made that way were more interesting and certainly more visual than what's done today. Imagine Star Wars in Cinemascope.

Both theaters are now gone, as is the Rialto. It's a shame. Is that progress????
