What year did Mr. Mills die? As I recall, he seemed to be in his late 40's or early 50's when we were there. Overall, I remember him as being an excellent principal. I don't have as fond a memory, however, of Harvey Tucker. I remember a time when I was in a Civics class and a siren went off in the hall. Apparently Mr. Tucker was doing one of his locker checks and someone had rigged his to sound the siren. Maybe I'm thinking of something else, but that memory is there.

Does anyone else remember this?

Like many of you, I have fond memories of Hunt's. Of course, that was my first job in high school. I remember on my 16th birthday going downtown to take my driver's license test and then going directly to Hunt's to get a job. It was a trememdously popular place when we were in school. On the weekends, the cars would line up all the way up Farmington Hill. Toward the end, when Gordon Hunt added the tray collection booth by the exit and required coupons, the popularity of the place really fell off. He was a master of short sightedness, IMHO. I've been back a few times since, and the tenderloins are still as big as they used to be. When I worked there, they cost $.55. Now, they're about $4.00. And they aren't as good as they used to be. BTW, even though the name is the same, it's now run by an oriental family.

There are a number of us who are missing from that Whittier picture that Gary Duffy sent. I don't see Carolyn Orsborn, Joyce Handley, and some others. BTW, I think that the girl between Anne Dutton and Roberta Huff is Ruth Ann Gibbs. Was there another class, or were we just missing????

Does anyone have any fond memories of either band or orchestra? Remember Elmer Szepsey and Herb Stoskopf? Mr. Stoskopf later married one of his students, I think.

Keep the memories coming.
