Friday found me in San Francisco attending to prior commitments. I could not, however, completely take my mind off the reunion, the Fuchs' party and the celebration tonight. Here, for what they are worth, are my Friday thoughts and reflections.

E-MAILS

In reading between the lines and engaging in general surmise and speculation, I sense that:
· We have all enjoyed "successes" and triumphs.
· We have all endured "failures" and disappointments.
· We have made mistakes.
· Some have suffered great personal loss.
· We frequently got what we wanted.
· Sometimes we didn't.
· If we were lucky, we got what we needed.

Some perhaps have even looked into the abyss but were pulled back. (Those that have been there know what I'm talking about.)

LOOKING AHEAD

Forty years is a long time and we have all seen and endured many changes. Frankly some of them I could have done without but on balance, it has been an interesting "trip." In going forward, we will need all our skills and values to cope with what is yet to come. In looking ahead, I hope that we can each-

· Maintain a sense of humor (you'll need it)
· Stay curious
· Above all, be a friend to someone
