I remember TV and radio announcers Jack Brickhouse doing Bear games, Dizzy Dean with weekend baseball, Red Grange with weekend football, Chick Hearn with Bradley basketball, Harry Carey with St. Louis Billiken basketball and Cardinal baseball and Howard Cosell doing boxing.

I remember going to a lot of Bradley basketball games and seeing such notables as Elgin Baylor, Lenny Wilkins, Stan Albeck, Bob Ferry, Bobby Joe Mason (Globetrotter fame), and Chet the Jet. Who can forget the leader of the Bradley band, Lawerance Fogelberg.

I remember car pooling to PHS. Lee Swardinski's dad's cigars first thing in the morning on a cool crisp day and Larry Norton driving the green Falcon and being broadsided only a couple of blocks from school. Jim Collier took the hit while sitting next to the right rear passenger door. Thank God no one was hurt.

Football practice was a memorable event. Wind sprints, doing the hills, two a days, doing laps, no water during practice and never taking your helmet off during practice. What wonderful team spirit and companionship we had, however.

My past forty years in a nutshell: went to Michigan State, the Army (Viet Nam), lived and worked in San Francisco, Omaha, Arlington, Texas, Annapolis/Washington, DC, Saudi Arabia, Greenville, SC, Palatine/Chicago, and now Simonton/Houston, Texas.

I have been married to Beverley for sixteen years and between us we have six kids, ten grandchildren (the eleventh due in December), three dogs, twelve horses (the thirteenth due in May), a goat, a sheep, and a wild parakeet who has adopted our barn as her home.

My avocation is raising, training and showing Paso Fino horses. We have been fortunate enough to win several World and National titles with these animals.

Sorry I will not be able to attend the reunion but have a wedding shower to attend for my daughter who will be married in October.

I do plan on making it to the fiftieth, however.

Sincerely,

Dave Sanderson
